How You Can Help

One reason our lake area is so wonderful is that we have a lot of talented people who are committed to the community.  If you would like to help out with the lake association, you can give money or volunteer to help with ongoing projects (or both!).

JOIN

Membership in the lake association is voluntary, but we all benefit from widespread participation.  At our July 2010 annual meeting/picnic, the association’s membership voted to set annual dues at $50 per household.  Make your check payable to Circle Lake Association and send to Circle Lake Association, PO Box 147, Northfield, MN 55057.  Dues are tax deductible.  If you like, print and fill out a membership form and mail it in with your check.

DONATE

Circle Lake Association is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law.  In May 2010 we held a community meeting to kick off an effort to study our lake’s water quality and identify specific projects we can do to improve it.  We commissioned and completed a lake management plan and established the Lake Improvement Fund as an additional way for folks to support lake cleanup efforts, as 100% of the money contributed to this fund will go toward projects designed to improve lake water quality.  We welcome contributions of any amount to the Lake Improvement Fund.  Make your check payable to Circle Lake Association and send to Circle Lake Association, PO Box 147, Northfield, MN  55057.  Or donate online by visiting our page on the well-established GiveMN.org web site.

VOLUNTEER

The most obvious way to donate your time and talent is to volunteer to serve on the lake association board.  Three of the nine board positions are up for election each year; members serve three-year terms.  We elect board members at the association’s annual meeting.

There are lots of other ways to help, too.  Here are a few ways to volunteer:

>  Help with implementing our lake-management plan
>  Put together a short lake history for the next edition of our lake directory
>  Create some useful maps for the next edition of our lake directory
>  Contribute lake photos to the web site

If you’d like to volunteer, get in touch with any board member (see “About” page on this web site for a list of current board members).
